Woman killed by toppled power pole pulled down by fallen tree on Chidlom - Phuket News

A power pole, toppled by a falling big tree, crashed on passing vehicles and pedestrians on Soi Chidlom this morning, killed a woman, and injuring two others.

The uprooted tree fell on overhead high voltage power cables, pulling down six power poles of 12 metres and 8 metres in length on the ground, and blocking traffic in the area.

Traffic police and city officials have to seal off Soi Chidlom and divert traffic to other roads instead.

Killed at the scene is Ms Natchapat Domchet, 25.

She was said to ride in a motorcycle when the tree fell on the power cables, pulling down six poles.

One of the fallen poles hit her and other motorbikes at the Chidlom intersection at 10.00am today.

Two other people injured by the fallen poles were rushed to Police General Hospital, while Ms Natchapat died at the scene.

There was no rainstorm when the old tree fell, uprooted.
