Pattaya’s ‘hair in the food girl’ threatens restaurant with defamation after the owner posted a CCTV video of her apparently placing hair into her food and then demanding a discount.
A video, receiving wide attention this week, appears to reveal a Pattaya girl attempting to scam an Indian restaurant out of a free meal by placing hair into two of her dishes, after she had eaten most of them, and then complaining to staff.
The restaurant owner then shared the clip online in an attempt to warn others of this behavior.
The lady in question seems now to have been recognised as she has instructed lawyers to sue the restaurant for ‘damaging her reputation in her society.’
The lawyer, Pinyapa Somphong, this morning issued ‘Cease and Desist Notices,’ to the restaurant owner and several online media news feeds who shared the video.
They have demanded, with the threat of legal action that could lead to prison under Thailand’s data laws, all parties remove the video clip with immediate affect.
This is despite, presumably, realising that once a clip of this nature is shared thousands of times throughout social media there is no way of contacting everybody so ensure it is removed entirely.
However, the so-called customer, who is now identified as Juthaporn Aimaot, is demanding strong action.
BangkokJack, who did not share the original story as it appeared to be just another boring scammer of little interest, also received a Cease and Desist Notice.
The lawyer, who has been asked to comment on what is NOW a legitimate and interesting development in the story, has failed to reply to BangkokJack questions.
The most important question was why does their Cease and Desist Notice carry an explanation that bears no resemblance to the evidence seen on the video.
When the first course was served Juthaporn noticed a long, straight black hair in the Biryani dish and, without hesitation, informed restaurant staff.
When, in fact, the video clearly show her bringing this to the attention of staff after the meal was complete and her ‘western friend’ was asking for the bill.
‘Juthaporn was not reaching under the table for a hair but swatting a mosquito.’
Well, you can watch the video clip yourself, which we are still not going to share at this stage but can easily be found on YouTube by searching ‘mixing hair in food pattaya.’
All parties, who did receive the Cease and Desist Notice, have been given 24-hours ‘notice to comply’ before ‘appropriate steps to protect Juthaporn’s reputation will be undertaken’ and legal action will begin through the courts to seek ‘appropriate remedies accordingly.’
Which looks like the real scam is only just beginning. – Winston Smith, Legal Correspondent.
