I was whipped during race – pioneering female jockey
Karen Wiltshire was assaulted and ridiculed but went on to become the first professional female jockey to ride a winner in British Flat racing.
The following year she ended her career after 18 rides, which included one runner-up spot at Epsom and three third-placed finishes.
